You are weak and old, …it is very very cold,
your bones are creaking… your joints are aching;
there are too many layers to shed… you are all alone in bed
the bathroom is far away; you lose control on the way…
Sounds nightmarish?
I just described the sad plight of the senior citizen who are abandoned by their near and dear ones and are forced to live all alone or at the mercy of others.
Imagining a fun evening let alone celebrating Christmas and New year is beyond their comprehension
Adharward’s Sangeetaji along with the Infonights of L&T Infotech’s 1step Mahape team set out to achieve the impossible, through a Christmas and New Year party designed specially for the elderly residents of Adharwad.
To spread the spirit of festivities, the volunteers decorated the rooms with balloons and Xmas trees. Encouraged by the cheer around themselves, the elderly ladies and gentlemen opened up and began enjoying their day. Utilitarian sanitary kits and yummy snack-boxes were distributed to add to the fun. The highlight of the evening was ‘secret Santa’, an Infoknight who donned the merry costume and distributed chocolates to all.
As the day ended, the bunch of energized but emotional Infoknights of 1step Mahape left behind a group of tired but cheered residents of Adharwad.
As they went back to their respective homes, the Infonights however kept asking themselves – “Have we done enough? Are we doing enough?”
